Individual
Therapy
Individual therapy is sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling," but these terms often refer to essentially the same process where clients are encouraged to explore their feelings, beliefs, and/or behaviors.
It is important to note that I do not operate from a Freudian or psychoanalytic perspective. What this means to me is that I will not ask you to delve too deeply into your childhood or your past unless it is relevant and is affecting you today. My focus is more on the here-and-now and what you can do to better cope with the distress you are experiencing in the present.
Adolescents
I have a special interest in working with adolescents. Due to my young age (late-20's), I relate well to young people and don't come across as an authority figure. I am well-versed in pop culture and social media as well as how technological communication affects modern-day interpersonal interactions.
Play Therapy
With children ages 12 and under I utilize play therapy. Play therapy is the use of games and toys to help children cope with and talk about their emotions. For more information on play therapy and it's effectiveness click here.
